Assembly Instructions

• Reinforce upper edge: cut buckram interfacing to approx 7cm x 80cm, turn bag inside out and baste interfacing to wrong side of upper edge backing, overlap short edges and stitch. Fold backing in, hand-stitch edge to wrong side of bag if not adding a lining.
• Spiral cord handles (make 2): With Yarn2 leave 30cm/12" tail, make 78cm / 30 3/4" long 8-sts spiral cord starting with one 4-sc row (measure while cord is fully stretched). Fasten off leaving 30cm tail; insert narrow tape if desired for stability and secure ends.
• Loop seam cover (x4): With Yarn2 ch14 and work 9 rows of slip stitch rib; fasten off leaving 30cm tail and position strip over loop seam. Overcast short edges together, sew bottom of strip to handle and secure with small invisible stitches to prevent sliding.
• Attach handles: Insert handle attaching strip into loop at end of handle with seam cover facing inner bag. Thread tapestry needle with 30cm tail and sew each stitch at edge of the strip securely to both loops of one of the 8 stitches (from which the strip was started). Secure seam and tie off. Repeat for all 4 handles.
• Optional lining: Measure finished bag and cut lining piece approx 40cm x 80cm; stitch sides, overcast upper edge allowances, press hems, insert drawstring into 2cm slit at bottom, tuck lining under upper edge backing and baste and hand-stitch to bag's wrong side with invisible stitches.

Important Notes

• 💡Use Yarn1 (background color) for all back post stitches, half double crochet, and the last slip stitch in each round unless otherwise noted.
• 💡Use Yarn2 for all front post stitches and for highlighted embossed elements; written instructions may not remind you to switch yarn so pay attention to charts.
• 💡When switching colors, finish the previous stitch with the next color so the last yarn over is made with the new color to secure a clean transition.
• 💡Mark the special stitches indicated in Rnd 26 to locate positions for B3i and other complex stitch placements before starting the bag sides.
