Earth Day – April 22nd: Celebrate Earth Day this Tuesday April 22nd 2008 by planting a garden or biking to work. Then come into Kindred and receive a batiked handmade tote bag to reuse at any store, free with a $50 purchase. We have lots of wonderful recycled handcrafts including baskets, picture frames and coasters made with reused newspaper and magazines from Vietnam. We are also carrying a new line of brightly colored bags and purses crafted from recycled juice bags sustainably made in a women’s cooperative in the Philippines. Do your part to reuse and recycle and enjoy our beautiful Earth!
Harvest for the Hungry Garden Fundraiser - April 26As in previous years we will be participating in the annual plant-sale
and fundraiser for the Harvest for the Hungry Garden, a local non-profit
community garden that grows organic food for food-banks and soup-kitchens. The event takes place on Sat, April 26th behind the parking lot of Christ Church United Methodist, at 1717 Yulupa Ave, Santa Rosa, from 9 am - 3 pm. As always the volunteers at the garden will been growing their fabulous tomato-plants (over 50 varieties with lots of unusual heirlooms), as well as other veggies, annual and perennial flowers, and habitat plants. World Fair Trade Day – May 10th: Come join us on Saturday May 10th to celebrate World Fair Trade Day 2008, a worldwide celebration and opportunity to raise consumer awareness of Fair Trade. This year, we join in solidarity to set a world record for the World’s Largest Fair Trade Coffee Break, taking a count of the number of people gathered to drink Fair Trade beverages simultaneously across the globe! At promptly 12 noon, Kindred will be serving free organic, fair trade coffees, teas, and treats for this momentous occasion! We will also have a Fair Trade Quiz, and participants will be entered in a free raffle give-away every hour from 12 to 3pm for neat prizes for the whole family.
